We’re Halie + Alec — a husband & wife photography and film team who have spent more than a decade working side by side, documenting people in love and building a life of our own along the way.

We’ve always been the kind of people who would rather make something than buy it, grow something than order it, and take the long way there if it means finding somewhere new. These days, we're building our first home from the ground up, which has given us a whole new appreciation for patience, problem solving, and the satisfaction of making something that didn't exist before.

Halie is an herbalist and loves working with plants, making pottery, and finding new ways to make things with her hands. Alec is a musician and producer, so life around here tends to involve a fair amount of recording, listening, and making noise. He's also an avid gardener and grows a surprisingly large portion of the food we cook at home.

A typical day in our lives outside of photography tends to look something like this: Alec tending the garden or working on a song, Halie covered in clay or making an herbal tincture, and our dogs Nola & Willow almost certainly trying to convince us to go somewhere outside.

We care a lot about the life we're building together, and we think that probably has something to do with the way we photograph other people's lives.

We're interested in the real stuff — the people you love, the places that mean something to you, the traditions you've made your own, and all the unexpected moments that happen in between. Even the little details like how the light falls across the room you’re getting ready in, or the way the clouds look on the morning of your wedding day.

We want to make photographs & films that don't just remind you what your wedding looked like, but bring you back to what it felt like to be there.

After 12 years of doing this together, we're still so damn grateful that people invite us into some of the most meaningful days of their lives.

And we don't take that lightly.
